What the paper involves
What score is typically needed?
We do not publish invented pass marks. Use official admissions pages and historical score ranges (where schools publish them) as your guide — practice papers show readiness, not a guaranteed offer.
What does “borderline” mean?
My child scored X in practice — what now?
-
Strong practice paper performance
Treat it as confirmation that timing and accuracy are coming together — keep rotating English and Maths under exam conditions and use marking to fix the last few recurring topics rather than adding more volume.
-
Mixed or borderline practice scores
List the three question types that lost the most marks, drill those topics for a week, then re-sit a similar paper timed. Borderline mock scores often move when careless slips and one weak topic are fixed.
-
Lower scores than you hoped
Check whether the problem is timing (unfinished paper) or knowledge (stuck on topic types). Run one untimed paper to separate the two, then rebuild with shorter timed sections on the weakest area before attempting another full paper.
